Therapist, LMFT, Clinical Director
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. With a passion for life I believe that each individual, couple and family has the capacity for growth and change to create a life worth living and enjoying. My background includes working with youth in schools and the community helping them establish stronger identities and guiding them as they establish connected family relationships. My experiences have led me to providing therapy in a renowned treatment facility specializing in systemic relationship-based therapy for young women and their families which afforded me the witness that family therapy does bring about lasting change. I am practiced in the use of Emotionally Focused therapy, received certification for Dialectal Behavior based therapy and am skilled in using narrative and CBT to challenge personal narratives and trauma stories. These modalities include my passion for attachment and experiential therapy which have given me a lens to understand the value of a nurturing connection which brings relationships closer together. I believe those armed with skills and a desire can learn new ways of supporting each other to bring about lasting change. My therapeutic work has been with trauma, addiction, eating disorders, mood and personality disorders, grief and loss, ASD and life transition issues. I believe the road to recovery is possible in a loving environment that is established with boundaries and honesty. Humor is always essential and I do so in a loving and direct way. One of my favorite quotes captures some of my ideas about therapy: “Salt water is the cure for everything, sweat, tears or the seashore”. Hard work does pay off, being vulnerable opens new doors of understanding and it goes without saying a day on the beach is good for everyone.
